On July 7th, 2023, Siemens CFO Prof. Dr. Ralf P. Thomas and Prof. Dr. Thomas M. Fischer (Chair of Accounting and Management Control) jointly hosted from 8.30a-3.30p the final session in the MA-Seminar “Challenges in Business Management”.
In the summer term 2023, the cooperative seminar had the general topic “The Future of Corporate Reporting”. Thus, twelve MA-students explored various aspects of corporate reporting and developed their insights based on discussions with senior managers of Siemens and Siemens Healthineers. This unique hands-on industry experience greatly enriched the students’ research and understanding. During the presentation day on July 7, the MA-students delivered their most relevant findings as well as summaries of critical aspects in the field corporate reporting. The topics covered the transformation of sustainability reporting, the role of non-financial reporting based on the CSRD, and the impacts of digitalization and stakeholder relationships on corporate reporting.
After each presentation, the MA-students had a thought-provoking discussion with Prof. Dr. Thomas and the mentors, who shared the perspective of corporate practice on the matter and encouraged to delve into the implications for the presented topics. Following the presentations, the students had the privilege of an open Q&A session with Prof. Dr. Thomas, where he shared his viewpoint on various aspects in current reporting, governance, and strategic issues which provided further valuable insights to all participants.
With a big “Thank you!”, we express our gratitude to Prof. Dr. Thomas, Mr. Toralf Bezold, and the senior managers from Siemens and Siemens Healthineers for their extraordinary support and contributions throughout this seminar.
